Juan Villarreal

With over 35 years of international experience in the oil & gas and electric industries, Juan F. Villarreal
has held key roles at leading equipment and services companies, including GE Power & Water and
Babcock & Wilcox. His expertise extends to industry research associations, notably the Electric Power
Research Institute (EPRI), where he led the Operations and Maintenance Practice and the Cybersecurity
Program. At Booz Allen Hamilton, Juan directed the Power and Utilities vertical, delivering cutting-edge
cyber defense solutions for critical infrastructure sectors, including utilities and digital equipment
providers. His extensive background encompasses reliability, safety, and security for mechanical and
cyber-physical systems within the electric grid.
Currently, Juan provides consulting services focused on enhancing the resilience of electrical generation
and transmission systems. He also serves as Chair of the American Nuclear Society’s Georgia Local
Section and actively contributes to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Cyber Informed Engineering (CIE)
initiative
